The Barclays healthcare team was established 20 years ago and focuses on providing banking support to social and primary care, as well as lifesciences.

‘I have had a fantastic career with Barclays but, after just over 40 years with the bank, I have decided it is time to retire,’ he said.

‘I am also pleased that I will be leaving the team in such good hands, with Steve Fergus taking over as head of healthcare with effect from 1 September. Steve has strong connections across the sector and excellent industry knowledge and will be a great head for the Barclays team, ensuring that we remain one of the leading banks in the sector for many years to come,’ he added.

McHattie was interviewed by Healthcare Markets in March.
